Students can compete in up to three events in the tournament (not including grappling);continuous sparring, self-defense and/or forms. Students will be placed into divisions based on age and rank. Student will be placed in the same Self-Defense and Forms Divisions, but depending on the competitors; height, weight, age and rank they may be moved up or down to a different continuous sparring division. Everyone is a winner at the tournament, as everyone will receive something for competing. The tournament will begin at 12:00PM (except grappling) with the self-defense and forms divisions, then the continuous sparring divisions. You can show up at 12:00PM, if you are competing in the forms and self-defense divisions or if you are sparring only, show up at 2:00PM for the weigh-ins and mandatory IKF Point Kickboxing (PKB) division rules meeting.

The tournament will cost only $45 for one event, $55 for two events or all three events for $60. Grappling registration are separate.If a school brings a minumim of 5 competitors to the tournament (not including grappling) the school will receive $100 in cash at the tournament.

Self-defense: The competitor does a 1-minute demonstration of self-defense techniques. The competitor's time starts when he begins his first self-defense technique. Self-defense techniques will be performed against a single attacker. Competitors can defend against open hand attacks, weapon's attacks or use a weapon for defensive purposes. Competitors will be judged on the proficiency of their technique, in addition to the difficulty of the self-defense techniques performed.

Forms: The competitor can perform one form and will be judged on the proficiency of their technique.

Continuous Sparring: The International Kickboxing Federation (IKF) Point Kickboxing (PKB) rules will apply. Go to the IKF website at www.ikfpkb.com in order to get the rules. Two minute rounds will be used for continuous sparring (oneminute for 7 & younger). Two rounds per fight, with a one minute break between rounds. Boxing gloves will be supplied at the ring. Adults, 18-up will use 16oz. gloves, ages 8-17 will use 12 oz. gloves and 7-below will use 10 oz. gloves. Also, 17-below will use a helmet and faceguard (optional for adults), if the competitor does not have one, one will be provided at the ring. In addtion, it is required that all competitors 17-below will use a chest protestor in the Point Muay Thai division. All students can compete in the American Rules division. Ages 16 & up can compete in either the American Rules or Point Muay Thai division. The competitor's results will be listed on the IKF PKB website and the competitor will be ranked in the IKF PKB Circuit. The following weight divisions will apply: Lightweight (149lbs & below), Middleweight (150lbs - 175lbs.), Light Heavyweight (176lbs - 199lbs.), Heavyweight (200lbs & above). The Over 40 yrs. old division has no weight classes. Adult Grand Champion winners receive $100 in cash. Grand Champions wil be determined by the Lightweight Champion fighting the Middleweight Champion and the Light Heavyweight Champion fighting the Heavyweight Champion.

Grappling: There will be a grappling event at the tournament. Please check out the website at www.ncbjjf.com for further grappling information and registration.

Spectators are $10 each for the tournament. Cash ONLY after 5/18 and at the day of the event. Please do not mail any registrations after 5/18. See your instructor for tournament sign-up forms. Go to www.magym.net for more tournament info.

The Martial Arts Gym will be hosting a tournament open to everyone on 5/31/08 at a local school. You can get your face and name on the gym website for a year, and a free entry into the big tournament in May, if you get a company to sponsor you and a couple of your buddies. You can see the Fall 2007 tournament sponsored teams on the gym website. Deadline for tournament sponsorship is May 1.

Competitors who reside outside of North & South Carolina will receive $10 OFF their registration with a valid drivers licence.
